The Wayne Lady Bulldogs were headed to Velma on Tuesday for a scheduled game with the Lady Comets.

Last Tuesday, Wayne picked up a 12-11 extra-innings win over Central High.

Thursday and Friday they were in Asher where they dropped their two games in the Asher tournament, a 9-3 loss to Stratford and a 6-2 loss to Macomb.

Errors continue to plague the Lady Bulldogs as they committed four in each of last weeks’ games.

Asher Tournament

Last year, Wayne and Stratford faced off in the championship game of the Asher tournament. This year, they played right out of the gate.

Wayne had three hits in the loss, one each from Audra Watts, Maddie Moreno and Alyssa Hobson. Moreno and Hobson had Wayne’s three RBIs.

Stratford scored two in the top of the first inning and Wayne nabbed the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Moreno doubled to score two runs and Hobson singled to score another. They led 3-2.

Stratford would add seven runs in the top of the third and hold on for the 9-3 win.

Their second game of the tournament was a 6-2 loss to Macomb.

Wayne had four hits, including two from senior Addison Keeler. Taelyn Ringwald and Lily Whitaker each had one hit in the loss.

Moreno was in the circle for Wayne. She fanned six batters and walked two.

Central High

In a high scoring game with Central last Tuesday, the score was knotted at 11-all in the bottom of the seventh inning. Hobson had a walk-off single for Wayne.

The Lady Bulldogs amassed 12 hits in the win. Hobson led her team at the plate with four hits. Ringwald, Moreno and Alana Digby had two apiece. Keeler and Watts each had a hit.
