In its regular monthly meeting Monday Purcell’s Board of Education accepted the bond companies recommendation to sell the $1,225,000 in bonds October 8 at 1 p.m.

Superintendent Dr. Sheli McAdoo said it would take a special board meeting to sell the bonds.

Board members present including Holly Baker, Kevin Andrews and chairman Tracy  Folsom were treated to a presentation by Paul Wollenberg’s award winning TSA students at the meeting.

Dr. McAdoo has been nominated to participate in Superintendent Bob Thompson’s Executive Leadership Academy in Austin, Tex. She will attend monthly meetings through March in Austin and will be traveling to Puerto Rico in October for a field trip to visit schools.

The trip will be paid for since she was nominated.

At the board meeting the 2024-2025 Gifted and Talented Committee was approved. Those committee members include Rebecca Franco, Tiffany Cook, Michelle Hall, Melissa Feroli, David Hilger, Jon Corea, Sara Nichols Blaxton and chairman Jerry Swayze.

The 24-25 textbook committee members include Paul Wollenberg, April Trumbo, Corea, Jacob Willing, Cindy Donaldson, Elizabeth Scott, Kendra Dobbins, Jessica Parks (parent rep.) and Carolyn Anyong.

Trumbo was granted a $750 Technology Student Association (TSA) stipend. Likewise, Wollenberg was approved for a $2,000 TSA stipend.

The board approved several standard policies and approved the purchase of several band instruments for a total cost of $12,998.32.

The board also approved purchasing a portable spotlight for the choir, show choir and music theater for $2,830.98.

The school district treasurer was granted approval to invest district funds in a CD with the Pauls Valley National Bank.
