Warriors sweep Regional Tournament

Headed to Super Regionals next

The host Washington Warriors moved their Regional tournament up to Monday and Tuesday due to possibility of heavy rainfall in Central Oklahoma.

They had no problem advancing to the Super Regional tournament after beating Holdenville and Chisholm out of Regionals.

“Our pitching was really good on Monday,” said head coach Tylor Lampkin. “It was impressive.”

Holdenville

The Warriors opened the tournament against Holdenville and secured a 6-0 win on the arm of Ally Dennis, who threw a seven-inning no-hitter.

Dennis struck out 15 batters with no walks while giving up two hits.

The Warriors scored two runs in the first, third and fifth innings.

Isabella Castillo was 2-3 with a double at the plate.

Ava Salcedo was 1-2 with a home run and two RBIs. She also walked twice.

Chisholm

The Warriors then defeated Chisholm, 12-0.

Payton Blackburn struck out 11 batters on her way to a one-hitter.

Washington blew the game open with a five-run second inning.

They added seven more in the fourth inning.

Kinzlee Pogue went 2-3 with two home runs. She finished the game with five ribbies.

Salcedo went 2-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Hadley Beard was 2-2 with a double and a walk.

Lexie Salcedo was 2-3 with an RBI.

Holdenville

The Warriors came back Tuesday to defeat Holdenville 15-1 in the elimination game for a berth to the Super Regional.

Washington scored four runs in the first inning and one in the second.

They put four more on the board in the third inning and six in the fifth.

“We’ve been a little overly aggressive at the plate lately,” Lampkin said. “(Tuesday) we got deeper in counts and that helped.”

Ava Salcedo was 2-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

Pogue also homered and had four RBIs in the game.

Ellie Musgrove and Blackburn struck out a combined six batters in the circle.

The Warriors are now 34-1 this season.

They will likely find out their Super Regional opponent this weekend.

“I’m proud of this bunch all the way around,” Lampkin said.
