Purcell Homecoming Friday

Coronation ceremony begins at 6:20 p.m.

Purcell will crown the 2024 football homecoming queen Friday night in a ceremony prior to the Purcell-Plainview football contest at Conger Field.

The King and Queen will be announced at the coronation ceremony starting at 6:20 p.m.

The homecoming parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. and make its usual trek down Main Street after a one-year hiatus due to the downtown construction project.

Senior queen candidates are Haven Buchanan, Jaci Deaton and Kenna Esparza. Attendants include Justus Fulbright, Halle Buchanan and Ellie Reed.

Senior king candidates are Landry Bacon, Noel Chavez, Christian Kirk, Boston Knowles, Devan Martin and Bodie Meyer.

The flower girl is Mayer Ann Stone while the crown bearer is Nick Smith.

Buchanan is the daughter of Kassi and Ryan Buchanan. She is a member of the Purcell Lady Dragons basketball team. Her honors include NHS, superintendent’s honor roll, Oklahoma Honor Society and she is a three-year Letter P award winner.

Deaton is the daughter of Stacey and Joe Deaton. She is a captain on the PHS cheer team. Her awards include three years on the honor roll, the Letter P award and she was nominated for the U.S. Army Cheer Bowl.

Esparza is the daughter of Amy Lehman and Manuel Esparza. She is a member of the fast-pitch softball team, basketball team and is in the STUCO. Her awards include principal’s honor roll, Madill Winter Classic two-time MVP, all-tournament team at HOOT, three-time softball All-Conference and was a part of the 2023 state runner-up fast-pitch softball team.

Fulbright is the freshman daughter of Josh and Kayla Huff. She is involved in cheer, FFA, archery and slow-pitch softball. She has been on the principal’s honor roll.

Halle is the sophomore daughter of Kassi and Ryan Buchanan. She is a member of the Purcell Lady Dragons basketball team. She has earned the Letter P award, is on the superintendent’s honor roll and the Oklahoma Honor Society.

Reed is the junior daughter of Lisa and Lucas Reed. She is a student council officer and on the prom committee. She is on the PHS cheer squad and golf team. She is a Letter P award winner, is on the superintendent’s honor roll and a member of NHS.

Bacon is the son of Kim and Brian Bacon. He is a member of the PHS football and golf teams. Landry is also a coach for a little league basketball team. His awards include principal’s honor roll and the Letter P award.

Chavez is the son of Ana Chavez. He is involved in football, a soccer captain and track. He was the Defensive Player of the Week in soccer and is a two-time football Player of the Week recipient.

Kirk is the son of Ciara Register and Kevin Douglas. He is a member of the football and golf teams.  Christian enjoys writing and playing music, watching movies and hanging out with his friends. He is a Letter P recipient, a NHS member and a member of the superintendent’s honor roll.

Knowles is the son of Justin and Stephanie Knowles. He is involved in football, baseball, STUCO, NHS and JOM. Boston is a Letter P  recipient, on the principal’s honor roll, was the 23-24 baseball MVP, recipient of the 22-23 baseball Dragon Pride award and is part of the 1,000 yard rushing club.

Martin is the son of Faith Martin. He is involved in football, basketball, soccer, STUCO officer, the Sharknados’ head coach, NHS, FCA, and he is the co-host of Dragon Talk. Martin’s awards  include the Hugh O’Brian Leadership Ambassador, Rotary Youth Leadership Ambassador and superintendent’s honor roll.

Meyer is the son of Brian Meyer and Erin Cooper. He is a four-year member of the PHS football team. In his free time he likes to duck hunt and bass fish.

Stone is the third grade daughter of Kevin and Amy Stone. Her hobbies include softball, basketball and going to the lake and riding the golf cart. “When I grow up I want to be a teacher,” she said.

Smith is the third grade son of Trey and Laura Smith. His hobbies are golf, baseball, basketball and playing Nintendo Switch and beating Uncle Brad on the golf course. “When I grow up I want to be a football player,” he said.
