Graveside services for Sally Tague, 88, of Washington were held Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Washington Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
Mrs. Tague passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024.
Sally Daisy Turner was born on July 13, 1936 in Cedar Bayou, Texas, the youngest of two girls born to Roscoe Hampton Turner and Vera (Northcutt) Turner.
Sally was raised on the Turner farm in Washington where her family has resided for more than three generations. She was always proud to say that part of her family’s Choctaw/Chickasaw allotment was given to start the town of Washington. She graduated with the Warrior Class of 1954.
Shortly after graduating high school, she moved to Oklahoma City to work for General Electric as a typist. It was while she was living there, in a brand-new complex on North Pennsylvania, that she met a young man named Virgil William Tague. They met at a pool party, and the rest as they say, is history.
Sally and Virgil were married on February 11, 1966 in Oklahoma City and together they had two wonderful sons, Mark and David. Sally was a wonderful mother to her two boys, and she cherished her nieces as well. She considered herself very fortunate and blessed to be able to stay home and care for her family.
In her free time, she enjoyed going to church, playing the piano and singing gospel hymns. She loved to collect angels, and had some gathered from nearly all over the world. Sally was a genuine, giving, and caring woman in nature. She could also be very sassy and straight forward. You never had to wonder what she was thinking!
Her favorite flower was a daisy, and that fit her personality perfectly. Sally was a family woman, and truly cherished every moment spent with them. She especially loved having family over to celebrate her favorite holidays - Christmas and Easter. Sally was also a woman of great faith, and her love for Jesus was evident in everything she did. She truly was a one-of-a-kind woman who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her! Virgil and Sally returned to Washington in their final years to live back on their farm and enjoy watching their grandchildren grow up.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Virgil Tague; parents, Roscoe and Vera Turner and older sister, Carolyn Sue Irons.
Sally is survived by her sons, Mark Tague and wife, Scarlett, of Washington and David Tague and wife, Melinda, of Washington; grandchildren, Zach Tague, Seth Tague, Ashton Upshaw and husband, Chance, Turner Tague, Lily Tague, Taos Tague, and Teal Tague; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Mae Upshaw; nieces and nephews, Randy and Cindy Segler of Edmond, Rick and Sally Weir of Colleyville, Texas, and Dr. Stewart and Kat Smith of Edmond and a host of other family and friends.
