The Wayne Lady Bulldogs are District Champions.
Last Thursday they picked up three wins-- 10-0 over Boswell, 5-2 over Wright City and 15-4 over Wright City in the if-game, to take the title and advance to Regionals.
The Lady Bulldogs were in Tushka on Tuesday to play the host Lady Tigers, along with Hominy and Ripley.
In their first game of the District tournament, Wayne beat the Boswell Scorpions 10-0.
Sophomore Maddie Moreno was 3-3 at the plate with two singles and a double.
Natalie Knobloch also had three hits in the win. Taelynn Ringwald and Cylie Jones each added two hits.
With no runs on the board for either team through three and a half innings, Audra Watts’ walk finally scored one run for Wayne.
The Lady Bulldogs added one run in the fifth and eight runs in the sixth to pick up the 10-0 win.
Stottlemyre was in the circle for Wayne.
Next up, Wayne faced Wright City and beat the Lady Jax 5-2.
Wright City scored first in the third inning on a fielder’s choice. But, Wayne answered right back with one run on a Hannah Curtis single. The Lady Jax scored one more in the fourth to take the 2-1 lead.
But, thanks to a Moreno triple that scored three runs and a single by Stottlemyre that scored one, Wayne took the 5-2 lead and didn’t look back.
The Lady Bulldogs finished the game with 10 hits and five ribbies.
The Wayne win forced the if-game since Wright City only had one loss and Wayne won handily, 15-4.
Three Lady Bulldogs had inside the park home runs – Knobloch with an inside the park grand slam in the fourth inning, Watts with an inside the park home run in the third and Moreno with an inside the park home run in the fourth.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out in front from the first inning with four runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third and six in the fourth.
Wright City pushed one run across in the second and three in the third, but couldn’t keep up with Wayne’s offensive onslaught.
The Lady Bulldogs finished the game with 17 hits and 14 RBIs. Knobloch and Alyssa Hobson led the team with three hits apiece.
Addison Clagg, Cylie Jones, Stottlemyre, and Watts had two hits while Ringwald, Moreno and Skie Jones each had one hit.
Stottlemyre was steady in the circle for Wayne through all three District games.
