The Wayne Lady Bulldogs had a rough week with losses to AmPo (9-3), Turner (3-1) and Wynnewood (4-0).
Last Tuesday Wayne collected nine hits in their loss to AmPo.
Several girls picked up hits including Audra Watts, who led the team with two and Skie Jones who had a two-run homerun.
Alyssa Hobson, Taelynn Ringwald, Natalie Knobloch, Cylie Jones, Dakota Martin and Kendall Sparks each had one hit.
AmPo got on the board with three runs in the first inning thanks to a couple singles and an error. They added two more in the second and wouldn’t relinquish the lead.
Skie Jones homered in the second to chip away at the AmPo lead but, ultimately the offense couldn’t get going.
Last Friday the Lady Bulldogs dropped their game with Turner, 3-1. With the game tied up 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Turner scored one run on an error to take the lead.
Skie Jones was the hot hitter for Wayne, going 3-3 at the plate.
Cylie Jones was right behind her, going 2-3. Addison Clagg, Ringwald and Sparks each had a hit in the loss.
On Monday night, Wayne lost to Wynnewood 4-0. That brings their season record to 11-13.
The Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to be at Dibble on Tuesday. They finish out the regular season on the road at Bethel on Monday and at New Lima on Tuesday.
District play is around the corner. Wayne will host Wright City and Boswell/Wapanucka. Games will be Thursday, April 23. Wright City and Boswell/Wapanucka will play at noon and Wayne will play the loser of game 1.
