Washington Head Coach Brad Beller said there were three really good football teams in their scrimmage at Tuttle last week and all three simply tried to get better.
“No one tried to win the scrimmage,” Beller said. “We just tried to work on things to get better.
“There was the good, the bad and the ugly,” Beller quipped. “But that’s usually what you get in a scrimmage.”
The veteran head coach liked the intensity his club showed.
“We played with a lot of intensity and physicality” Beller said. “We just need to work on our technique. We’ve got to get better at that.”
Friday night’s opener at Perkins-Tryon has been moved back from the original 7 p.m. kick off time to 7:30 due to the extreme heat that has invaded the state.
The Demons run a very multiple offense.
“They base out of a shotgun but are very multiple with their player groupings,” Beller said. “They want to run the football and take their shots over the top in the back end.”
When Washington will be on offense, they can expect a lot of pressure.
“They blitz a lot,” Beller noted. “They want to bring pressure and try to be physical. We just want to play within ourselves and play disciplined. We’ve got to match their intensity.”
