Pushing into playoff season

Posted

Washington’s boys and girls basketball teams completed a perfect week with three wins apiece.

The girls defeated Lindsay (47-31), Pauls Valley (51-32) and Bridge Creek (59-30).

Senior Mattie Richardson scored 54 points in the three contests to continue her hot scoring streak as of late.

She had 20 against Lindsay, 16 against Pauls Valley and 18 against Bridge Creek.

Freshman Rielyn Scheffe has been making quite a hand for Rocky Clarke’s squad on the offensive end of the floor.

She was in double figures for all three games, scoring 10, 13 and 10 respectively.

Kyndall Wells was in double figures with 13 points against Bridge Creek.

The Warriors are 12-7 this season.

Boys

TJ Scholz’s boys team had a fruitful week in the win column as well.

Lindsay (44-43), Pauls Valley (56-41) and Bridge Creek (47-40).

Hayden Hicks paced the boys in the Lindsay win with 14 points.

Cash Andrews scored nine points but it was Tony Trejo’s three points that were maybe the biggest of the game when he hit the game winner.

They were also his only points that night.

Kobe Scott led the team in scoring with his 14 against Pauls Valley.

Hicks (12) and Andrews (10) led the Warriors in scoring against Pauls Valley.

Washington is 14-6 and ranked No. 13 in Class 3A.

Homecoming is set for tonight (Thursday).
