The Washington Warrior fast-pitch softball team had a successful outing at the Bixby Festival over the weekend.
“It was good to go up there and play and see some new faces,” said head coach Tylor Lampkin. “Most of those teams have never played us.”
The Warriors also picked up a District win against Jones to take their record to a perfect 11-0 in the District.
Jones
Washington beat Jones 15-3 on September 8.
The Warriors opened the game with a four-run first inning and never looked back.
The Warriors’ bats were alive and the team registered 18 hits.
Daphne Palumbo, Hadley Beard and Raelee Adkins all hit home runs.
Beard also tripled while going 3-5 with two RBIs.
Bentley Brantley was with two doubles and three ribbies.
Payton Blackburn and Ally Dennis combined to strike out seven batters in the circle.
Kingston
The Warriors picked up an impressive 8-0 win over Kingston September 10, with Dennis capping the victory by throwing a no-hitter.
“Kingston is for sure a top five team, maybe even a top three team,” Lampkin said. “Ally goes out and no-hits them and we run rule them in five innings.”
The Warrior defense had Dennis’ back, making plays all over the field.
“Kingston was putting the ball in play and we were making some really good plays behind Ally,” Lampkin said.
Dennis struck out two batters and walked none.
The Warriors scored a run in the first inning to open the game and put up four more in the second.
Neither team scored again until Washington added the final three runs in the fifth inning.
Beard was 1-3 with a homer and two RBIs.
Kinzlee Pogue was 2-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Salcedo was 2-2 with a double.
Sand Springs
Washington beat Sand Springs 8-0 at Bixby.
Blackburn struck out four batters over the five inning game.
Jaylee Gray hit a two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning.
Ava Salcedo was 3-3 and Palumbo went 2-3 with two RBIs. Both players had doubles.
Bartlesville
Washington finished the week with a 10-0 win over Bartlesville.
Brantley was 3-3 with a triple.
Salcedo also tripled and went 2-3.
Dennis, in addition to pitching the game, went 2-3 with two RBIs at the dish.
“We sprayed the ball all over the yard and really put pressure on defenses,” Lampkin said. “We had seven people hitting above .500 for the week and that makes us really tough to beat.”
The Warriors are now 24-1 on the season.
They will travel to Branson, Mo. this weekend for a tournament.
