The Washington softball team took a brief step back from their torrid schedule to make a little time for track and prom last week.

But they were back in action Monday at the Big Cat Festival, going 2-0.

Bartlesville

They defeated Bartlesville 21-9 in the first game.

Head coach Tylor Lampkin was quite pleased with his team’s play.

“We finally strung a few hits together,” he said. “We had 22 hits in the first game and 15 in the second game.”

Raelee Adkins had a big game, going 3-5 with two homers and six RBIs.

Ava Salcedo went 2-3 with a pair of home runs as well. She had three ribbies.

Kelby Beller stayed hot at the plate, going 4-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs.

Julie Hoehner went 3-3 with an RBI.

Washington scored runs in bunches, with a seven-spot in the second inning and they put up five each in the sixth and seventh innings.

Southmoore

They turned around and beat Southmoore 16-6 in the next game.

Adkins had another big game at the plate. She went 4-4 with two homers, a double and six RBIs.

Salcedo was 2-3 with a homer, a double and three ribbies.

Abby Byrd was 1-2 with a home run and three RBIs.

Kinzlee Pogue was 3-4 with a triple and three RBIs.

Emersyn Massey was 2-4 and had a double.

“We hit it really well,” Lampkin said. “Hopefully we’re getting in our groove and we can go out and hit our stride at the right time.”

District tournament

The Playoffs begin today (Thursday) and the Warriors will host Little Axe at 4:30 p.m.

“We’re ready to get going,” Lampkin said. “It’s the playoffs and everything is a sprint now.”

Washington is 24-4 this season.
