Monday night Wayne picked up two more wins to move their record to 10-6.
First up was a 10-0 win over Ringling. Wayne racked up 10 hits. Ben Fisher, Jaxon Dill, Lane Canfield and Brody Kemp each had two.
Wayne scored in every inning, getting on board in the first thanks to singles from Ben Fisher, Sloan Jackson and Dill.
Dill was on the mound for all four innings. He allowed four hits and had two strikeouts in just 40 pitches.
“This was one of our more complete games. Jaxon pitched well, we hit the ball well and ran the bases well. I was pleased with the team effort,” head coach Shane Collins said.
In their second game, Wayne’s defense and pitching came in clutch to get the 7-2 win over Ninnekah.
The Bulldogs had seven hits, including two from the nine hole, Duke Moore.
Ninnekah got on the board in the top of the first with two runs. Wayne answered and tied it up with two runs in the bottom half.
The Bulldogs added three in the second and two more insurance runs in the fourth.
Dill was the winning pitcher going all five innings with seven strike outs. He allowed two runs on six hits.
The Bulldogs were on the diamond in Mill Creek last week. They shellacked Maysville 17-0 in their first game.
Nearly everyone got a hit in the win, led by Sloan Jackson and Langstyn McClendon with three hits each. Dill, Lane Lewis and Brody Kemp had two hits each while Ty Kemp, Kody Kern and Moore had one hit each.
Wayne scored 13 runs in the first inning and added four more in the second in the run-rule affair.
The offensive onslaught in the first inning included an inside-the-park homerun and triple for Jackson and triples for Brody Kemp and McClendon.
McClendon was on the mound for Wayne. He had a perfect game with five strike outs.
“Langstyn was great on the mound for us. He saw just nine batters. And, our bats backed him up too,” Collins said.
In their second game, Wayne lost to Mill Creek 11-3.
The Bulldogs had just three hits in the loss, all from Jackson. He also had two RBIs.
Mill Creek jumped out in front with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Wayne got one back in the top of the second and held them scoreless in the bottom.
But, Mill Creek added two runs in the third and two in the fourth.
Wayne once again got a couple back in the fifth, but it wasn’t enough.
Mill Creek added four more runs to seal their win.
“We struggled in the Mill Creek game. We had too many walks and several errors and it just seemed like we weren’t ready to play.”
Dill and McClendon were on the mound for Wayne. McClendon recorded five strikeouts.
In their final game of the tournament, Wayne beat Coleman 6-4.
The Bulldogs finished with 14 hits including a team-high of four for Ty Kemp. Fisher, McClendon and Lewis each had two.
Dill, Jackson, Canfield and Brody Kemp had one hit apiece.
Ty Kemp and Dill split time on the mound and accounted for six strikeouts.
Wayne got on the board first in the second inning when Fisher singled to score two runs.
Coleman answered with one run in the bottom of the second.
Wayne added four more runs in the fifth and once again, Coleman answered with one run.
The Bulldogs survived two late runs by Coleman and won the game 6-4.
Wayne was in Alex on Tuesday then scheduled to host Rush Springs on Friday.
