Wayne teams are at Central High this week for the Stephens County tourney

The Wayne Bulldogs got another win over Stratford last week, 50-42, behind Ethan Mullins’ 24 points.

“Ethan had a big night. He was 6-6 at the three-point line,” head coach Jackson Embry said.

Jaxon Dill joined Mullins in double figures with 10 and Kaleb Madden added nine.

“Kaleb is a basketball player; he finds ways to contribute,” coach Jackson Embry said.

“His defense was tough against Stratford. Looking back at film, whoever he was guarding on defense was never allowed to score.”

Despite starting slow, Wayne took advantage of Startford’s man defense to close out the win.

Mullins was a perfect 6-6 at the 3-point line and Dill gave them two clutch threes at the end of the game to extend the lead.

Embry and his Bulldogs are at Central High School for the Stephens County Tournament. They played Empire Tuesday afternoon.

“This is a stacked tournament. If there’s one team we match up with it’s Empire; so it should be a good test for us,’ Embry said.
