Funeral Services for Shirley Lois Powers, 69, of Purcell will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2020 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Ms. Powers passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, May 31, 2020, following complications of chemo.

Shirley was born January 24, 1951 in Oklahoma City, without a filter. The second of five children born to Ralph and Leota Powers. She was raised in Purcell and attended Purcell Schools, graduating with the Dragon Class of 1969 Shirley attended beauty school and then worked for a time before taking several classes at OSU in Oklahoma City.

Her favorite job and boss was working for Speed Brandenburg at Seneca Oil in Oklahoma City. Speed was like a father figure, and Shirley flourished as the office manager of Drilling and Completion. While working for Speed, she was a member of the Desk and Derrick Association and was a past president.

She moved to Long Beach, California in 1986 where she met and married Larry Lineberger. They made their home in Tustin, Calif., and  later moved to Mabank, Texas, on Cedar Creek Lake. She moved back home to Purcell in 2011 and resided next door to her Aunt Jo and Aunt Kathy.

Shirley loved country music and could dance the night away. She attended more than her fair share of concerts, and you could never find a bigger Willie Nelson fan. She enjoyed traveling and had the privilege of visiting Mexico, the Caribbean, England, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland and numerous places within the United States. She loved her fur babies, Chloe and Theodore, had a green thumb, and was passionate about tending to her flowers and plants.

Shirley was more than a sister, a niece or an aunt. She was more like everyone’s best friend. She never met a stranger. She was funny, quick witted, always on the go and always kept you on your toes. On her facebook page she says of herself, “I listen intently, talk too openly and I love people.” She loved going to church when she could, and most recently attended Landmark Church in Purcell. She will be dearly missed!!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Leota Powers; sister, Donna Spalding and brother, Dale Powers.

Shirley is survived by her sisters, Ruthie Powers and Lavern Arnold (Max); her aunts, Kathy Andrews, Pat Mize, Janice McCalip and Carlene McCalip; her uncles, Dwight Powers and James McCalip; nieces, Connie Beasley (James) and Heather Landry-Bean (Josh); a nephew, Jason Guthrie (Whitney) and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
