Posted

The family of Sherry Johnson Clark, 81, of Purcell honored her Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the White Cemetery near Gore, Okla. Services were under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Clark passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

Sherry Ann Brooks was born January 6, 1943 in Sulphur, Okla., the second of five children born to Charlie Brooks and Eula Mae (Snow) Brooks. She was raised in Oklahoma City and attended school at Crooked Oak High School.

She married young to Mike Johnson, and to this union three children, sons Roger and Mark and daughter Susie were born. A military man meant many moves for the young family, and they spent time in Nebraska and later Alaska before Mike’s unexpected passing. Sherry returned back home to Oklahoma and soon after married Chris Clark and welcomed another daughter, Tina.

After many years of raising her four children in Oklahoma and Hawaii she earned her Associates Degree in Accounting from Rose State College in Midwest City. Sherry worked for the Kerr McGee Corp. for more than 20 years, and after taking an early retirement, she settled in Purcell.  She then worked at LARC for a little more than 12 years before retiring in 2008.

Sherry loved to travel and her family took her on many trips throughout her retirement years. One of her biggest passions was gardening and wherever she lived, she always turned it into a beautiful garden full of flowers. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and a true friend.  She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Billy Ray Reid; her parents, Charlie and Eula Mae Brooks and siblings, Dub Brooks, Lana Ziegler and Geary Brooks.

Sherry is survived by her children, Roger Johnson and wife, Carla, of Guthrie, Mark Johnson and wife, Blanca, of Moore, Susie Reid of Mustang and Tina Buchanan and husband, Dann, of Lakewood, Colo.; sister, Patricia Monholland and husband, Richard, of Gore, Okla.; five grandchildren, Kyle Johnson and wife, Heather, of Guthrie, Jenny Koepp and husband, Nick, of Yukon, Nicki Mize and husband, David, of Norman, Carlee Holden and husband, Chris, of Edmond and Shaianne Buchanan of Lakewood, Colo.; seven great-grandchildren, Reid, Addie, Clark, Ellis, Avery, McKenzie and Carter, and a host of other family and friends.
