Roberta Lea Johnson passed away in Oklahoma City on January 5, 2024 at the age of 94.

Roberta was born to Melvin and Dola Buchanan on July 3, 1929 in Purcell, Oklahoma. She was raised in Wayne along with her brothers and sisters.

As a young girl, growing up in the depression era, she helped with her siblings and even picked cotton to help support her family. She graduated from Wayne High School in 1947. After high school she and her sister went to Texas to attend a music school. She was very talented on the piano and accordion.

On April 23, 1955, Roberta married the love of her life, Junior A. Johnson, and they were blessed with a daughter, Diana. Roberta and Junior raised their family in Oklahoma City. Roberta loved being a mother and homemaker. She did whatever was needed to take care of her family.

Roberta later worked for many years at TG&Y and then Hobby Lobby. After retirement she had plenty of time to spend with her daughter and grandchildren. In her spare time, Roberta enjoyed taking care of her flower bed. Gardening was a relaxing hobby for her and making things look beautiful brought her great joy. When she was able, she also enjoyed traveling and going shopping with her daughter.

Roberta will always be remembered for her sweet and gentle way, her funny sayings and above all, her kind spirit. She will be deeply missed by her family but never forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Father Melvin Buchanan and Dola Buchanan; sister, Geraldine Deibler and granddaughter, Lori Shook.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Shook and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Christy Osborne and husband, Todd; grandson, Craig Shook; great-grandchildren, Kelly Corum and Tara Osborne; great-great-grandson, Carter Corum; sister, Wanda Christian; brother, Leon Buchanan; and sister, Glenda Abney.
