The Lexington Lady Bulldogs improved their season record to 15-5 after a 17-1 win over Anadarko on Monday.
“I’m very pleased with how we’re playing right now. The seniors have shown leadership and lots of encouragement and the team camaraderie is high. It’s a fun bunch to coach,” head coach Monty Ervin said.
“They come ready to play every day and I can’t ask for any more than that.”
They collected 12 hits, including two each from Merabelle Nielson, Mackenzie Manuel and Peyton Harmon.
Manuel also led the way with three ribbies.
The Lady ‘Dawgs got on the board with eleven runs in the first inning after batting through the lineup.
They added six in the second and the run-rule was on.
Briley Lacquement and Emma Garrett shared time in the circle and together they fanned seven batters.
Crooked Oak
Last week, Lexington hosted Crooked Oak in makeup district games.
They picked up a 9-3 win and a 13-0 win.
In game one, Lexington collected four hits – one each from Lexie Torres, Brodie Anderson, Lacquement and Harmon.
Harmon had two RBIs and Tie Peery had one.
The Lady ‘Dawgs had ten stolen bases in the first win.
The second game of the night was a 13-0 run-rule where Lexington collected nine hits.
Torres and Nielson led the way with two hits each.
Lexington jumped out in the first inning and scored 13 runs. Crooked Oak failed to answer in the second inning and the Lady ‘Dawgs won.
Lacquement was, once again, efficient in the circle with six strikeouts in the no-hitter.
Lexington was scheduled to travel to Bethel on Tuesday and host Holdenville on Wednesday in a make up game.
“Bethel is hot right now. We’ll have to travel to Bethel which is not an easy place to play,” Ervin said.
The next week and a half will determine final district standings and regional and superregional hosts.
“This has been a tough district and the possibility of being district champs is there for Lexington.
“We’re swinging it well and our defense is playing well. Since we first played Bethel all three phases of our game is better. We’ll see,” Ervin said.
