Lopsided win for Wayne Bulldogs

21-2 shellacking of Alex was the only game they played

With several inches of rain and chilly temperatures, it’s no surprise that most games were canceled starting last Thursday.

Wayne got one game in last week, a lopsided 21-2 win over Alex on Tuesday. That moved their season record to 12-5.

Wayne jumped out with four runs in the top of the first inning. They added two more in the top of the second.

Alex was quiet through three but they pushed one run across in the bottom of the fourth inning.

With 15 runs in the top of the fifth inning, Wayne’s win was not in doubt. Alex added one more in the bottom of the fifth, but that was all she wrote.

The Bulldogs finished the game with 11 hits. Freshman Langstyn McClendon was the leader at the plate scoring five runs on four hits. Ty Kemp had three hits and four ribbies.

Sloan Jackson had two hits in the win while Lane Lewis and Brody Kemp each had one.

Duke Moore was on the mound for Wayne. He pitched all five innings allowing two runs on three hits. He walked one and struck out five. 

Wayne’s game with Elmore City on Monday was canceled but they were scheduled to host Southwest Covenant on Tuesday.

Starting Thursday the Bulldogs are in Velma for the The Jake, a wood bat tournament.Wayne plays Ringling at 6 p.m.
