The threat of severe weather last week disrupted schedules across the state and the Washington baseball program was no exception.
The only games the Warriors were able to play were against Bethel on Monday and Thursday – both wins.
Washington beat Bethel 9-0 in the Monday afternoon game.
Jackson Mays got the win for Washington.
He struck out four batters while allowing two hits over seven innings.
He had two walks as well.
His defense played error-free baseball behind him.
Liam Keltner was 2-5 at the plate with double and an RBI.
Jackson Rico was 1-3 with a double and an RBI.
Jack Brady was 1-3 and he drove in two runs on his hit.
Mays helped his own cause, going 2-4 at the plate.
Next game
The Warriors beat Bethel 11-0 on Thursday.
Washington took a 2-0 lead in the second inning but really took command of the game in the third when they scored four more runs.
Their five-run fourth inning finished it.
Spencer Barton was 1-2 with a home run and he had three ribbies.
Dawson Thomas was 2-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Zeke Wilson was 2-2 and scored twice.
Rico went 3-3 at the plate with three doubles. He drove in one run.
Owen Andrews struck out seven batters in four innings of work.
Barton struck out one in his lone inning of relief.
“We played well in both games against Bethel,” Warrior head coach Brad Lucas said.
The Warriors, now 24-5, are 12-0 in District and have completed their schedule there.
They will await their Regional assignment, which will be released early next week.
Lucas said his team was able to get some fundamental work in with the lighter schedule last week.
“We had a big fundamental defensive practice yesterday,” he said. “It was good for us.”
Washington is scheduled to play Sulphur today (Thursday) and Mount St. Mary Friday.
