Lexington’s Bulldogs will host Antlers to open the district portion of their 2026 gridiron season.
The Bearcats, who operate out of the spread on offense, are 1-2 on the season.
Lexington Head Coach Sean Guerra reports Antlers will be a good opportunity for his young squad to continue to grow and improve.
“They are a senior heavy team with 19 on their roster,” Guerra said. “It’s about half of their team.”
On offense Guerra expects them to be a spread team that tries to get the ball to their running back, who is the best player on the team.
“It’s our second home game of the season and I think where we are right now we have a really good chance against them.
“The key for us is building on the things we’ve worked on and get aligned better. We are getting better at that,” the coach said. “We’ve got to execute plays all the way to the end.”
Guerra noted the play of two of his squad in last Friday’s 55-14 loss to Purcell.
“I thought Daniel Chavez played well defensively,” Guerra said. “And we got good line play from Nathan Espinoza.
“I think going forward as far as growing as a team we are getting closer to being where we need to be.”
Freshman quarterback Sawyer Beers threw a pair of touchdown passes against the Dragons, one was a 15 yard strike to Jaxon Torres. The second scoring aerial was a 25-yarder to Cash Dierking.
Sage Loux toed both extra points.
