The bye week was just what the doctor ordered for Sean Guerra’s Lexington Bulldogs.
“It treated us well,” Guerra said. “It gave us time to heal all our injuries and gave our freshmen valuable time to see what they struggled with against Konawa and what they need to do against Wayne.”
The Bulldogs will travel to Wayne Friday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff against the 2-0 Bulldogs.
Wayne operates out of a two-back power set.
“They run a diamond set and they have athletes in the backfield,” Guerra said. “They are going to run the football. They will pass occasionally but they are primarily run heavy.”
Aside from taking care of the football and winning the kicking game, Guerra said the key is withstanding their first punch.
“They are going to come out and try to take it to us early,” the coach confirmed. “If we can withstand that and then play with them, we have a chance to beat them on their home field.”
