As Derek Clark settles into the 2020-21 basketball season he begins his third year as the skipper of the Lady Bulldogs.

It’s his fourth year overall at Lexington.

Clark has a 34-16 career record and welcomes Jaci Idlett as the lone returning starters off last year’s prolific 20-6 team.

Lost to graduation were Amanda Graddy, Lauren Beason, Emilee Jenks, Anna Sample and Zayla Hyde

Rylee Beason is the only other player on the roster with has a lot of playing experience.

“We graduated 90 percent of our scoring with two of last year’s seniors going on to play college ball,” Clark said.

This year’s edition of Lady Bulldog basketball will rely on their size.

“That is our team strength,” Clark continued. “We need to improve our shooting. I’m looking for the girls to step up in scoring to replace what we lost.”

Clark said his current troupe is extremely young.

“We have 14 players that are either freshmen or sophomores,” the coach reported. “We’re looking to grow and improve with every game we play.”

Lexington started the season on the road at Lindsay coming up on the short end of a 51-35 count despite 17 points from Rylee Beason.

The Lady Bulldogs rebounded last Friday night to capture a 51-47 road victory over Healdton.

The Lady ‘Dawgs were led by Beason’s 23 points. She was joined in double digits by Harley Salisbury, who chipped in 11.
