Lady Bulldogs start season

Hosting Springer Friday night

With just one senior lost to graduation from last season’s team (Kaylee Madden), the Wayne Lady Bulldogs have experience to lean on. They will be led by senior Faith Brazell.

“Faith leads by example. No matter what team she’s on, with her on your team, you have a chance to win,” head coach Jackson Embry said.

Embry has the reins of the Lady Bulldogs basketball for the first time starting this season.

“I’m super excited to be in control of basketball at Wayne. We are setting the same foundation and culture across the board.”

Embry has his starting five set with junior Madi Sharp as the true point guard. Freshmen Taelyn Ringwald and Audra Watts will be the guards and senior Jordynn Debaets and Brazell will hold down the post.

Three other freshmen figure to factor in for Wayne this season. They are Dakota Martin, Addison Clagg and Kimber Reaves.

Junior Brysten Shephard brings much needed experience to the team also.

“We have 11 girls so everyone will see playing time.”

Madden was an offensive bell cow for Wayne for four years, so the Lady Bulldogs will have to find their way offensively this season.

“We could struggle scoring with Kaylee gone. I think defensively we’ll be sound, but we will struggle offensively early in the season.

“I think by Christmas we will have more stock in our offense.”

The Wayne Lady Bulldogs kick off their 2023-24 season hosting Springer on Friday.

“Like usual, the rivalry games will be tough -- Stratford, Elmore City and Wynnewood. But, we take all of the games seriously,” Embry said.
