Lady Bulldogs go 1-1 in Festival

The Wayne Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to host Minco on Monday, but games were canceled due to the threat of severe weather. They traveled to Vanoss on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Wayne hosted their annual festival. The Lady Bulldogs split their games – a 7-4 win over Apache and a 9-7 loss to Minco.

Minco

With the game tied 7-7 in the top of sixth inning, a Minco batter doubled to score two runs for the win.

Wayne outhit Minco 19-10, but five errors were the difference in the game.

Audra Watts, Jordynn Debaets and Faith Brazell each had three hits. Taelyn Ringwald, Alyssa Hobson, Ava Stottlemyre and Cylie Jones had two hits apiece.

Apache

Wayne finished with seven runs on seven hits in their win over Apache. Ringwald and Debaets were the leaders at the plate with two hits apiece. Watts had three ribbies.

The score was tied up, 3-3 in the second inning. Watts broke up the tie when she tripled to score three runs. Debaets doubled to score another. Wayne took the lead 7-3.

Apache added a run in the top of the sixth inning, but it wasn’t enough as Wayne picked up the 7-4 win.

Asher

Last Thursday, Wayne lost to Asher, 11-8, despite outhitting the Indians 19-16. Ringwald, Watts, Brazell and Hobson all had three hits in the loss.

Wayne jumped out 5-0 in the bottom of the first inning. Asher scored one in the fourth and five in the fifth to take the lead. Wayne answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Asher went ahead one, 8-7, when they scored two in the seventh.

Another Wayne run scored in the bottom of the seventh to knot the score for a third time, 8-8, and send the game to extra innings.

Asher scored three in the eighth and held Wayne scoreless to win the game.

Earlier last week, the Red White and Blue Conference tournament was condensed to Tuesday only. The Lady Bulldogs picked up a 9-6 win over Stratford, a 10-3 win over Wynnewood, but fell to Asher, 11-7, to take second place.

Wayne is 8-4 on the season and they are scheduled to play at Ninnekah on Friday.
