Final stretch of games for Wayne

Crooked Oak, Ada on tap through Monday

Posted

A split game series was the name of the game for the Wayne Lady Bulldogs on Monday.

They lost an 8-0 decision with Blanchard but turned around and picked up a 3-2 win.

Truly a tale of two games as Wayne managed just three hits in the loss. One each from Emily Woody, Faith Brazell and Jordynn Debaets.

But, in game two, bats were hot and Wayne had 13 hits. Brysten Shephard, Lily Whitaker, Brazell and Debaets each had two.

Game one was all Blanchard. They scored five runs in the bottom of the first and added three more in the bottom of the sixth.

Game two seemed similar as Blanchard struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. But, Wayne pushed a run across in the top of the fifth.

Down 2-1 in the seventh, Whitaker singled to score two runs and get the win for Wayne.

Last week, Wayne picked up an 11-2 win over MacArthur.

Allison Ryan was in the circle and fanned two batters. She allowed two runs on three hits and seven walks.

Woody led the team with four hits in the win. She singled in the first and second, tripled in the fourth and doubled in the sixth.

Ryan, Brazell and Alyssa Hobson had three hits apiece. Brazell also had three RBIs.

Hobson got Wayne’s scoring going when she singled in the first inning to score one of their four runs that inning.

Wayne followed that game up with an 8-3 win over Fletcher.

Ryan singled in the first inning to push one run across the plate to start the scoring for Wayne.

The Lady Bulldogs had 11 hits in the win. Woody, Ryan and Shephard each had two. Ryan also had two RBIs.

Last Tuesday, Wayne dropped a 8-3 loss to Stratford.

Wayne scored first, pushing one run across the plate in the bottom of the first inning. But, they were stymied after that.

Stratford plated five runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth.

Wayne answered with one run in the fifth and one in the sixth, but couldn’t pull back in it.

Despite the loss, Wayne had 13 hits led by Hobson with three. Woody and Debaets had two and Shephard, Ryan, Brazell, Whitaker, Addison Keeler and Ava Stottlemyre had one apiece.

Wayne was scheduled to be in Lexington on Tuesday and host Crooked Oak on Thursday.

They will be at Ada on Monday.
