With Boston Knowles and Bryce Blair holding Vanoss to two hits in five innings of work, Purcell posted its third straight run-rule victory last Friday with a 10-1 win over the Wolves.

Sophomore Casey Billingsley led the offense going 3-4, including a double, with an RBI and scored twice.

Knowles also scored twice in a 2-3 outing at the plate, including a double and a triple, and finished with two RBIs.

Cole Smedley, who had two RBIs, Parker Page (RBI) and Jett Tyler all had hits in the contest.

Boston Knowles got the start on the mound and pocketed the win.

Blair tossed two innings of no-hit work in relief.

“I think Boston had a good approach on the mound,” head coach Cole Sharp said. “He attacked the zone and pitched very well for us. Byrce finished the game. He competed and threw strikes, making Vanoss swing the bats.

“I thought we had good atbats throughout the game. We played loose and relaxed and didn’t press and played well in getting the win,” the coach said.

Purcell played error free in the victory that hiked their record to 7-12.

Due to the threat of severe weather Monday, Purcell’s scheduled game at Cache was postponed. The two teams were to square off for a varsity game followed by the JV. The other Cache game will be rescheduled.

In another schedule change, Purcell will host Little Axe on Thursday at 4:30 instead of Lexington with no game on Friday.

Purcell is scheduled to play at Bridge Creek next Monday and then host the Bobcats next Tuesday.
