Return seven of nine starters for next year

Purcell closed the book on the 2025 baseball season in the Regional Tournament with back-to-back losses May 1 to Blanchard and Plainview.

The Dragons’ bats were pretty quiet in a 16-1 loss to the Lions and 8-2 to Plainview.

The Indians jumped on the Dragons pushing across eight runs in their half of the second inning.

Head coach Cole Sharp replaced starting pitcher Boston Knowles with Brody Walkup in the second frame. He shut down the Indians the remainder of the game.

“I thought Boston did his job, “ Sharp said. “They just hit the ball well.  Brody came in and did a really good job in limiting them from scoring any more.  They had the big second inning that really hurt us.”

Boston led the offense going 2-3 and scored both Purcell runs.

Bryson Perkins, Kash Knowles and Parker Page all had hits in the contest.

Blanchard touched starter Parker Page in the other contest for 12 first inning runs. He was relieved by Kash Knowles who kept the Lions in check the remainder of the game.

Cash Cook and Kash Knowles both had a pair of hits in the game. Cook led off the game with a home run giving the Dragons a short-lived lead.

“Both of our pitchers competed on the mound,” Sharp said.  “Blanchard just had great at bats and hit the ball really well. It was one of those games where they came out and scored 12 runs in the first inning and we couldn’t over come it.

“We battled, but just couldn’t get any momentum in the game.  I will be shocked if Blanchard doesn’t win the whole thing or at least make it to the championship game,” the coach said.

“Overall I was proud of the way our team competed and battled all year. I thought we got better throughout the year and we played well for the majority of the season,” Sharp said.

“We will lose three seniors Boston Knowles, Parker Page, and Brayden Reinhold but will bring back seven of the nine starters to next year’s team. We will have a lot of experience coming back and are excited for that,” Sharp concluded.

Purcell finished the season at 18-15.
