Bulldogs in OKC for Dawgs of the South tournament

Due to the threat of severe weather on Monday, Lexington’s game with Marietta was moved to Tuesday. They had a double header with the Indians.

Last week the Bulldogs were in the Dibble tournament where they lost to Latta, 3-1, in their first game, but picked up a 13-1 win over Alex and a 8-7 extra inning win over Ardmore to win the Consolation.

Latta

The Bulldogs had two hits in their loss to the Panthers.

Latta got on the board first with two runs in the third inning.

The Bulldogs scored one run in the bottom of the sixth, but Latta added an insurance run in the top of the seventh to pick up the win.

Colby Haynes and Drew Dierking accounted for Lexington’s two hits.

Alex

The Bulldogs scored six runs on 13 hits in their win over Alex. Haynes led the way with two hits while Skylar Rollins and Kash Klupenger had two RBIs apiece.

Lexington scored three runs in the first and broke open the game with nine more in the second. They added one more in the third for a run-rule, 13-1 win.

Ardmore

In the Consolation game of the Dibble tournament, Lexington beat Ardmore 8-7 in extra innings.

The Bulldogs finished the game with eight hits, led by Haynes’ two. Logan Carroll had three RBIs.

There were six lead changes in the back and forth game.

The score was knotted at 6-6 at the end of seven, sending the game to extra innings. Both teams were held scoreless in the eighth.

Ardmore scored one in the top of the ninth. But, Lexington answered, scoring two to pick up the Consolation win, 8-7.

Comanche

Last Tuesday, Lexington lost to Comanche, 6-4, in extra innings to split the series with the Indians.

Lexington held a 2-0 lead through five innings. Comanche put four runs on the board in the top of sixth.

Thanks to a Ryan Johnson double, Lexington scored two to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Comanche scored two in the top of the eighth and held Lexington in the bottom of the inning to take the game.

The Bulldogs finished the game with five hits, one each from Zeke Faulkenberry, Dierking, Rollins, James McMillan and Johnson.

The Bulldogs are in the Dawgs of the South tournament starting Thursday at Santa Fe South High School. They play Wellston at 11 a.m. today (Thursday).
