Wayne picked up their seventh win on Monday with a 14-1 victory over Springer.

“Duke Moore was on the mound for us. He pitched well – just around 50 pitches,” said head coach Shane Collins.

Moore threw 33 strikes. He allowed one run on two hits and struck out six.

Wayne scored their 14 runs on seven hits. Ben Fisher, Sloan Jackson, Wyatt Webster, Ty Kemp, Braden McClendon, Logan Taylor and Moore each had a hit.

Fisher also had three ribbies.

On Tuesday, Wayne was in Maud. The Tigers have a 3-4 record.

“As far as I know they have some arms and how we do will depend on who’s pitching for them.”

Thursday starts the I-35 Classic with games in Wynnewood and Wayne.

The Bulldogs play at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) against the winner of Ninnekah/Thackerville.

“I’d like to see us have some success in this tournament. We’ll play some tougher teams, so we’ll see how we do,” Collins said.

Last Thursday, Wayne picked up two more wins, a 9-1 victory over Sasakwa and a 5-1 win over Paden.

Friday’s game at Stratford was canceled due to weather. As of presstime, it was not going to be rescheduled.

As of Monday, Wayne’s record was 7-1. Their lone loss was to Wynnewood, 7-2, on March 5.
