Homecoming set for 6:30 p.m.

Wayne hosts Wynnewood Friday night in an A-4 District showdown.

The play of Wynnewood freshman quarterback Caden Knighten has caught the attention of the Wayne coaches.

“They have a stud for a quarterback,” said Wayne head coach Brandon Sharp. “He’s the real deal and the most explosive player we’ve faced yet.”

Wynnewood runs a similar offense to Wayne’s and will spread the field out and utilize Knighten’s legs much like the Bulldogs use Ethan Mullins.

“We’ll have to corral him (Knighten),” Sharp said. “Wynnewood is talented and can give you fits.”

Defensively the Savages run a 3-4 scheme. They have a big middle linebacker and smaller outside linebackers.

“They are active at linebacker and have an athletic back end,” Sharp said. “We’ll have to sustain blocks.”

Friday is homecoming for Wayne. Festivities begin at 6:30 and kickoff will follow at 7 p.m.
