Long-time Purcell teacher Paul Wollenberg was inducted into the Oklahoma Technology Student Association (TSA) Hall of Fame April 17 at the Embassy Suites in Norman.

Wollenberg, a 1992 graduate of Purcell High School, earned his degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1997 and has taught school his entire 27 years in Purcell.

Wollenberg’s students have been to 22 National TSA Conventions in the last 26 years and have had 45 National Top 10 finalists.

Among other honors for Wollenberg include Oklahoma ACTE TechEd New Teacher of the Year; ITEEA Program Excellence Award in 2013; Purcell Junior High Teacher of the Year in 2014-15; Oklahoma TSA Advisor of the Year in 2021-22 and Purcell Junior High Teacher of the Year in 2022-23 – the same year he was named Purcell Public Schools District Teacher of the Year.

He has sponsored numerous State TSA Champions and many State Top 10 Finalists.

Wollenberg’s students have had one National Officer, three State Officers and six Regional Officers in his career. He served from 1999-2021 on the Oklahoma ACTE STEM Board of Directors and is the current Oklahoma Western Regional Advisor.

“Paul Wollenberg being inducted into the Oklahoma Technology Teacher Hall of Fame is a testament to his unwavering commitment to educational excellence,” Purcell Superintendent Dr. Sheli McAdoo said.

“Paul is dedicated to equipping students with the skills needed for successful future endeavors in the workforce,” Dr. McAdoo continued.

“He has left an indelible mark on the lives of those he has taught. We are so proud of Paul and feel blessed to have him as a part of Purcell Public Schools,” she concluded.

Purcell Junior High Principal Carol Testa echoed Dr. McAdoo’s sentiments.

“It’s amazing for a school our size to go to the State Meet against schools of every size with so many schools and students competing and for us to come home with Top 10 finishes, it’s just amazing,” Testa said.
