The Wayne Lady Bulldogs are sitting at a 2-3 record after an 11-2 win over Union City on Monday.

They were scheduled to host Ninnekah on Tuesday.

Senior Faith Brazell was in the circle for Wayne on Monday. She fanned 11 batters and gave up two runs on seven hits.

“Faith always does a wonderful job for us. She was commanding in the circle for us,” head coach Nikki Herrin said.

The Lady Bulldogs got off to a fast start, scoring five runs in the first inning and tacking on another two in the second.

“The girls all hit well, and were seeing the ball well. We had great energy in the dugout,” Herrin said.

Collecting 16 hits in the win, Wayne was led by nine-hole Karsen Adams who went 3-3 at the plate.

“I’m happy for Karsen. She had a good game; it was her first good game in a while and I hope she’ll continue that streak.”

Addison Keeler, Brazell, Jordynn Debaets, Taelynn Ringwald and Cylie Jones each had two hits in the win.

Ringwald was also the RBI leader with three.

Late last week, Wayne was in the Central High Tournament. They dropped their three games, a 7-5 loss to Ringling to open the tournament, a 1-0 loss to Empire and a 10-3 loss to Walters.

Starting today (Thursday),  Wayne is in Stratford for a single-elimination tournament.

Their pool play games are today at 1 p.m. against Seminole and 2:30 p.m. against PaulsValley.

“It always depends on who shows up at the plate, but when we are hot at the plate, no one can stop us.”
