Posted

The State slow-pitch softball tournament at FireLake in Shawnee was pushed back from Tuesday to Wednesday due to weather.

They earned a berth to the State tournament after taking care of business in the Regional tournament.

They defeated Stroud 12-2 in the opening game.

Washington got on the Tigers early and scored three runs in the first inning and five in the second while holding them to no runs.

They each traded a couple runs the next two innings before the Warriors slammed the door with a seven-run fifth inning.

The Warrior home run squad was back on duty as they put five balls out of the yard.

Emma Curry (2), Ellie Loveless and Tinley Lucas (2) were the responsible parties and the trio knocked in 10 of the team’s 17 runs.

Latta

In their 15-5 game against Latta Washington scored runs in every inning, but saved the best for last with a seven-run sixth.

Homers by Elly Allison (2), Kaile Kilmer and Maggie Place (3) drove in 11 of the Warriors’ runs.

Allison had six ribbies by herself, thanks in part to a grand slam.

Washington opened with Henryetta at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the State tournament.
