Warriors host bi-District

Posted

Washington plays host to Chandler this week for their bi-District series.

They are scheduled to play today (Thursday) at 1 p.m.

“When you get to the Playoffs everyone’s focus rises and you want your guys at peak performance,” said Washington head coach Jeff Kulbeth.

Chandler is 11-18 this season.

The Warriors are coming off games against Oklahoma Christian School (OCS) and Tuttle.

The OCS games were for the District championship. Washington needed to win both games to finish first in the District.

They beat OCS 12-4 in the first game but fell 18-10 in the second to finish as runners-up in the District.

Aden Hyde got the start in the first game and Bobby Reese came on in relief.

Dax McCaskill went 1-3 with four RBIs.

Kane Springer had three ribbies and Colin Pelton knocked in two runs.

Washington took control of the game early with a five-run first inning. They scored two runs in each of the next two innings. They finished the game with a run in the sixth and two in the seventh inning.

In the second game against OCS the Warriors got off to a sluggish start at the plate. They didn’t get on the board until the third inning and they found themselves down 10-1.

Washington found a scoring flurry in the fifth when they pushed across seven runs but it was still too little too late.

Tuttle

Washington fell to the Tigers 12-2.

They got into an early 6-1 hole after the first inning and it was 10-1 by the end of the third.

“We threw a different pitcher every inning to try to sharpen those guys for the playoffs,” Kulbeth said.

Meanwhile Tuttle didn’t pull any punches and started University of Oklahoma commit Bode Brooks.

“We got two runs off him but he overpowered us some,” Kulbeth said. He throws 90 to 92 (miles per hour).”

The Warriors pitched Hyde, Reese, Luke Keltner and Easton Berglan.

Kulbeth has one thing on his mind and that’s getting his team ready to make a run in the Playoffs.

“I tell our guys the truth that we’re just trying to prepare for the Playoffs,” Kulbeth said. “Our schedule has turned out to be one of the toughest we’ve had since I’ve been in charge. We’ve played with everyone in the state.”
