On Monday night Lexington traveled to Heritage Hall in their second meeting of the season. The winner would host a regional.

Head coach Monty Ervin’s Lady ‘Dawgs fell to the Lady Chargers in extra innings, 3-2.

“They’re good. Their pitcher, along with several others in our district are some of the best in the state,” Ervin said.

Lexington jumped out with a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to a Brodie Anderson solo home run and an error that scored another run.

Heritage Hall got one run back in the bottom of the first.

Then it was goose egg after goose egg until the bottom of the seventh when Heritage Hall scored one to tie it up and send the game to an eighth inning.

The Chargers added a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to pick up the district win.

“We didn’t score after the first inning and that hurt us. We’ve had to play some underclassmen who just don’t have the experience.”

Lexington had three hits in the loss – two from Anderson and one from Mackenzie Manuel.

Anderson was also in the circle for the game. She fanned seven batters and allowed three runs on 10 hits.

Ervin and his team were scheduled to host Lindsay on Tuesday.

Noble Festival

Last Friday, Lexington won one and lost one in the Noble Festival. They lost to Noble, 5-2, but beat Harrah, 7-5.

Lexington collected three hits against Noble – one each from Anderson, Manuel and Cote Garver. Anderson and Manuel each had a home run, accounting for Lexington’s two RBIs.

It was a different story offensively in the win over Harrah. The Lady ‘Dawgs amassed 11 hits in the 7-5 win.

Once again, Anderson led the way going 4-4 at the plate, including a home run in the fourth inning. Emma Turnpaugh and Kora Parker had two hits apiece and Manuel, Hannah Garrett and Baylee Rillema each had one.

Garrett got the nod in the circle. She pitched six innings and allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk.

Konawa

Last Tuesday, Lexington picked up a 6-5 win over Konawa.

Despite being outhit 14-8, and committing three errors, the Lady ‘Dawgs held on for a win.

They were winning 6-3 through five innings when Konawa added two runs to cut into their lead in the top of the sixth inning.

Defense tightened and held them for another inning to pick up the win.

Manuel led her team with three hits and two RBIs. Parker and Anderson had two hits each and Garrett had one.

Garrett, in the circle for Lexington, pitched five and two-thirds innings. She fanned five batters and allowed four runs on nine hits.

Peyton Senn came on in relief for one and one-third innings.
