On Monday night, Wayne lost to Elmore City, 12-4. 

Lily Whitaker led the team with two hits. Addison Keeler, Taelyn Ringwald and Audra Watts each had one.

Ringwald also had two ribbies.

Maddie Moreno was in the circle for five and two-thirds innings. She had seven strikeouts and allowed just three earned runs.

But, seven errors by the defense proved especially costly as the Lady Badgers scored six runs on those.

The Wayne Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to host Varnum on Tuesday. Konawa and Asher come to town on Thursday for games starting at 4:30 p.m.

District pairings have been released and Wayne will be in Binger to face the Lady Bobcats.

Last week, Wayne dropped an 11-3 loss to Rush Springs on Tuesday and a 12-4 loss to Allen on Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs couldn’t get their bats going until the top of the fifth inning when they scored three runs.

Freshman Maddie Moreno was the leader at the plate with one hit and two RBIs. Audra and Alana Digby each had a hit.

Moreno was also in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs. She fanned three batters and allowed 11 runs (six earned) on 13 hits.

Five errors by the Wayne defense was hard to overcome.

Late last week, Wayne fell to the Lady Mustangs, 12-4.

Wayne jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Cylie Jones singled to score one run and an error scored two.

Allen tied the score at three-all in the bottom of the first.

They added five runs in the second and two each in the bottom of the third and fourth innings.

Wayne added a run in the top of the fourth.
