Kathlyn June Boykin was born on September 9, 1948, in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Leonard Gordon Simmons, Jr. and Sarah Elvina (Riley) Simmons and passed away on September 9, 2023, in Lindsay, Oklahoma on her 75th birthday.
Kathlyn was a lifetime resident of Lindsay. She graduated Lindsay High School and went to college where she received a bachelor’s degree in special education. She was a teacher for both Purcell and Dibble Public Schools.
Kathlyn was a proud mother, but her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Kathlyn could often be found at sporting events for her children and grandchildren.
In 2000, Kathlyn married Don Boykin at the Noble Assembly of God. After she and Don married Kathlyn enjoyed “glamping.” Kathlyn was the vice-president of the softball association and an avid OU football fan. Kathlyn was a member of the Erin Springs Church of God. She loved her church and teaching Sunday School. Kathlyn had a servants heart and will be missed dearly.
Survived by her husband, Don Boykin of Lindsay, Oklahoma; her mother, Sarah Elvina Simmons, of Lindsay, Oklahoma; sons, Casey Coles of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Michael Coles and Sonya of Washington, Oklahoma, and Brent Boykin and Sonya of Georgia; daughters, Jennifer Coles of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Angela Cole and Chris of Foster, Oklahoma, and Amy Hatchett and Greg of Lindsay, Oklahoma; brother, David Simmons and Linda of Lindsay, Oklahoma; sisters, Brenda McKee of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Shirley Shamblin and Jamie of Vian, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her father, Leonard Gordon Simmons; niece, Julie Ann McKee; nephew, Kevin Kenneth McKee; and brother-in-law, Kenneth George McKee.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Erin Springs Church of God with Bro. Doug Brothers and Bro. Greg Hatchett officiating. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Oklahoma.
