Mother Nature was the winner of the 32nd annual Heart of Oklahoma since the tournament was rained out.

With much better weather Monday, Zach Idlett threw BBs at the Wynnewood Savages limiting the visitors to one hit in a 3-0 shutout victory for the Dragons.

Nate Willis was 3-3 at the plate including a fifth inning dinger and a pair of doubles. He had three of Purcell’s five hits. The other two coming off the bats of Dayton Smith and Hayden Harp, who had an RBI.

Idlett pitched a complete seven inning game striking out 11.

The Dragons, who hiked their season mark to 9-13, opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first.

They had one run innings in the fourth and the fifth when Willis went yard.

Creed Smith and Cade Smith both had RBIs in the victory.

“Zach pitched a heck of a game overall,” head coach Cole Sharp said. “He is really throwing well for us.

“He controlled the strike zone all day and had good command.”

Sharp praised the offensive play of Willis.

“He is really hitting the ball well for us and doing a good job,” the coach said.

The Dragons are scheduled to play host to Harrah Wednesday  at 4:30 p.m. and travel to Harrah today (Thursday) for a 5 p.m. showdown.

The two games are make up games from earlier in the year, Sharp said.

“They will be a good challenge for us,” the coach confirmed.

Purcell was able to play Seminole last week with the Chieftains posting an 8-4 victory over the Dragons avenging Monday’s 5-0 Purcell shutout victory.

Willis had the hot bat for the Dragons going 3-4 with an RBI and a double.

Creed Smith and Dayton Smith were both 1-4.

Titus Mason launched one over the fence in the fifth inning for a solo home run.
