Goldsby Mayor speaks on watering policy

The Town of Goldsby enacted an Odd-Even Water Rationing Policy on June 1.

As the hot, dry summer weather continues, we are seeing the water level in our towers continue to drop, at times the water level is just above 50 percent.

That is approaching a very critical level that will affect water pressure throughout the system. We all want good water pressure in our homes and we must have good water pressure to have a chance to fight fires.

Everyone must cooperate and comply with the odd-even water conservation policy to avoid these critically low water tower levels and the need for a much more restrictive water rationing policy, remember we had to go to a one-day-a-week policy for a period of time last summer.

We have started making daily surveillance drives because it seems there is less than adequate compliance with the current water rationing policy. We are finding multiple “violators” every day. We have started issuing $100 citations for each violation.

Save yourself and your neighbor $100, if you see a lawn sprinkler operating on the wrong day. Remind them of the policy and save your neighbor $100.
