Purcell will play in the District Slow-pitch tournament at Perkins-Tryon today (Thursday) at noon against Western Heights.

The tournament will be a three-team round-robin event, Head coach Sarah Jones said.

The Dragons are coming off their first victory of the season, a 10-7 victory at home Monday over Vanoss.

Brynley Jennings and Coty Sessions were both 3-4 at the plate while Kailynn Helton was 2-4.

Payci Constant lined a two-run double in a 1-4 performance at the plate.

Ella Resendiz sealed the victory with a double play. She caught a pop-up while falling to the ground. Then she rifled the ball to second base to double up the runner and ice the victory.

Purcell was 1-4 heading into Tuesday’s home game with Lexington.
