Last Friday, Lexington hosted Purcell in the second installment of the Battle of the Bridge. The Bulldogs lost 75-63.

“It was a close game at halftime. Purcell came out and went on a run. They outscored us by 11 in the third quarter and that was just too much for us to come back from,” head coach Kyle Wells said.

Down by just two points, 32-30, at halftime, Purcell outscored Lexington 25-14 in the third quarter to extend their lead.

Lexington outscored Purcell 19-18 in the final stanza, but it wasn’t enough to overcome their deficit.

Three Bulldogs were in double figures in the loss. Drew Dierking led the team with 21 points while Zeke Faulkenberry added 15 and Ty Mixon added 14.

“Ty, Drew and Zeke led us as they usually do. Elijah Pearman played a lot of minutes too. He has a gear that doesn’t stop and always brings a spark to the game,” Wells said.

Tuesday night was Senior Night as Lexington hosted Little Axe. Seniors honored were Faulkenberry, Mixon, Dierking, Hunter Olson, Gage LaGace , Skylar Rollins and Tucker Flemming.

“It’s never easy to beat a team three times in one season. If we can control their three point shooting, we will have a great chance of winning.”

Lexington will be in Crooked Oak on Saturday playing for a District title.

“Crooked Oak will be a tough one. They are very athletic and have a deep bench. But, we feel good going into the game and we’re excited for a chance at a District title,” Wells said.

Girls

Last Friday, the Lady ‘Dawgs dropped a 55-21 loss to rival Purcell.

It was an offensive onslaught from the tip from Purcell. At halftime, Lexington was down 37-13.

Though the Dragons’ offensive slowed in the second half, Lexington was still outscored 18-8.

Kiely Givens led the team with five points. Abby Sample and Mackenzie Manuel added four apiece.

Senior night was Tuesday as Lexington hosted Little Axe. Seniors who were honored were Givens, Sample, Jordan Hardy, Natalie Dicksion, Charli Moore and Landri Bean.

Saturday night the Lady ‘Dawgs will be at Crooked Oak playing for a District title.
