Purcell second graders took time out of their busy schedules to sit down with The Purcell Register to answer a few questions about Christmas.
They were asked what enables the reindeer to fly, had they been good, what is their favorite part of the holiday and how do the reindeer get all around the world in one night.
The vast majority of the veterans at the elementary school think magic is involved.
Teo Celeste: “It’s Christmas Magic that makes them fly.” Have you been been a good boy? “I’d say 80-90 percent. Presents.” Teo wasn’t sure how they get around the world in one night.
Melissa Chavez: She had a different take. “It’s the Christmas Spirit. They use Santa’s Christmas Spirit. Melissa reported she had been good this year. Family and it’s that same spirit that propels them around the world.”
Mila Rodriguez: “Christmas Magic” keeps the reindeer air born. She wasn’t sure about how she has been this year.
Allysn Bridgeford: “In my opinion it’s the food that Santa and the Elves give them that makes them have magical powers. It’s like donuts with sprinkles. The sprinkles have magical powers and they work out a lot,” she said. “I think they have special food or Santa Claus does something else. That’s just my opinion. In my opinion he puts like, something in the food, but maybe he does something else. Who knows? They also get magic to fly from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I think they might sleep half the day and then work out. Santa taught them to keep their eyes open all day. And, don’t they have reindeer parents? They may have taught them, too.” Has she been good? “In my opinion, yeah, but my parents’ opinion I’m not sure.”
Kenley Creswell: Kenley chalked up both the flying and the ability to get all the way around the world in one night to “Christmas Magic”. She reported to have been good this year and family is her favorite part of the holiday season.
Beckham Wren: Beckham gave deep, deep thought to his answers. “It’s the bells that make them fly,” he finally said. And after more deep thinking he said, “Maybe they eat magic food.”
Sebastian Ibarra: Sebastian said the flying reindeer get their ability from “magic”. And he said it was the “Christmas Magic” that propels them around the globe in one night. Has he been good? “I don’t think so. I really don’t. The best part of the holiday? “Opening up the red stockings and the presents.”
Paislee Miller: “It’s the sleigh that makes them fly. They eat magic food.” When asked whether or not she had been good, she gave heavy nodding in the affirmative. Her favorite part of the holiday is giving people presents that don’t have them.”
Charlie Dalton: “Powers make them fly. Santa gives them the power. She said she had indeed been good this year. Her favorite part of the holiday? “Decorating the Christmas tree.”
Kenna Idlett: “I think Santa sprinkles magic dust on them. I think I’ve been good.” Her favorite part? “Celebrate Jesus and get presents.”
