Lexington Robotics Teacher Bridget Johnson and her high school and junior high school students culminated a service project for the community with an interaction outing with four dogs that have been rescued by the city’s animal shelter.
The play time occurred last Thursday on school property when animal control officer Casey Allison brought the animals to interact with students.
“The students decided to do the service project, which is a great way to give back to the community in an area we felt needed help, Mrs. Johnson said.
The students decided the animal shelter would be a great way to give back and decided to provide them with supplies.
“After speaking with Ms. Allison and police chief Ronnie Johnson they told us what they needed most and we began the project.
“For a two week time period we collected supplies including food, treats, blankets, towels, toys and grooming supplies from the students and the community at large,” Johnson continued.
It was an outstanding idea put together by the students, one that benefits the entire community.
