I recently had the nicest telephone call from Norman resident Phyllis McFarland, who attended the Heart of Oklahoma Music Festival September 27.
She said she and her husband, Carl, “had a tremendous time at the festival.”
“Your town was hospitable, very clean and the festival was thoroughly enjoyable.
“On the way back to Norman, my husband said he wants to move to Purcell,” Phyllis said.
“I told him it’s just too far of a drive from T.J. Maxx,” she said with a laugh.
But she wasn’t laughing about the festival and the city of Purcell.
“We have a nephew that lives in Dallas. He and his wife plan to come to the festival next year,” she said.
Mrs. McFarland was definitely a satisfied customer and they are big fans of Purcell and the Heart of Oklahoma.
They will be back again next year, along with their Dallas nephew, who is an accomplished musician himself.
Phyllis said she had planned on writing a letter to the editor to praise the festival but decided on just making a phone call instead.
The McFarlands are keenly impressed.
Again, to all those who had a hand in putting on the festival, good job!

A national news organization has reported scientists warn that global coral reefs have passed a climate tipping point, with widespread die-off already underway, highlighting an unprecedented environmental and economic crisis that demands urgent global action.
The coral reefs have become the first environmental system on Earth to pass climate “tipping point, according to the report.
“Tipping points represent critical thresholds in Earth’s climate system where small changes can lead to significant, often irreversible consequences,” the authors said in their report.
Another environmental system vulnerable to the same scenario is the Amazon rainforest in South America, that is itself an example of a major global ecosystem on the brink of a climate emergency.
Very scary.
