SSM Health Medical Group welcomes Mara Rose Montenegro, MD, to its Purcell Family Medicine practice.

She will provide primary care to patients of all ages, assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with acute and chronic illness, beginning September 14.

Montenegro grew up in the small rural town of Valliant, Okla. She is excited to join the SSM Health Family Medicine practice in Purcell, where she can build strong relationships with patients and help improve access to healthcare in a smaller community.

“Coming from a rural community myself, serving patients in a smaller community feels very meaningful and closely aligns with the kind of physician I have always hoped to become,” she said.

Montenegro was previously seeing patients as a Family Medicine resident physician with SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, most recently serving as chief resident.

She earned her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine after graduating from OU in Norman with a degree in biology and minor in chemistry.
