Purcell Elementary School Pre-K registration and Kindergarten Round-Up for the 2024-2025 school year was available Friday, March 1.

The McClain County Sheriff’s Office Blood Drive, sponsored by The City of Purcell and First United Bank, will be held Wednesday, March 20.

The blood drive will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First United Bank, 324 W. Main St., in Purcell.

All donors will receive a “Lotto Pot O’Gold” scratcher and could win a $100 or $200 Visa Gift Card or other prizes.

Visit the Pop-Up Mobile Maker Lab at the Purcell Public Library.

Let the Mobile Maker Lab Team help you make beautiful things! Learn to use the 3D printers, laser cutters, embroidery machines and more.

The Maker Lab will be open Thursday, March 14, from 1-5 p.m., Friday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, March16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The program is for all ages.

The Heart of Oklahoma Kiwanis Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, March 30, at the Purcell Lake Weaver Pavilion, 1400 Chandler Road.

Each age group will have their own hunt and prizes. Age groups include 0-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures.

The hunt begins at 9:30 a.m. sharp.

Another  Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Huckleberry Hill Barn, 20551 Ladd Road, in Purcell from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23.

The event will include an Easter Egg Hunt, food trucks, vendors and a meet the Easter Bunny.

The egg hunt age groups will include 1-3, 4-7 and 8-13.

The deadline to pay the second half of your property taxes is Friday, March 29, at 4:30 p.m.

Here’s a dish to serve to commemorate the Chickasaw Cultural Center’s annual Three Sisters Celebration, which will continue through March 19-23 at the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur.

Three Sisters Stew

1 lb. ground beef

2 cups onion, diced

6 cups water

2 14.5 oz. cans diced tomatoes

6 cups red skinned potatoes, cubed

15 oz. can tomato sauce

1 cup corn, frozen

1 cup yellow squash, diced

1 cup zucchini, diced

15.5 oz. can light red kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 can blackeyed peas, drained and rinsed

1/2 cup quick cooking barley

4 garlic cloves, minced

1-1/2 tsp. black pepper

Brown ground beef and onions, drain.

In a large stock pot, add all ingredients. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for 30-45 minutes until the potatoes are soft.

Serve immediately.
