This year’s Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Halloween of the Heart “Treats on the Trail” will be held Saturday, October 28, from 3-6 p.m. at the Purcell Lake.

House-to-house trick or treating in Purcell will be held on Tuesday, October 31.

The Purcell Public Library will present “Learn It! Quilting for Beginners”  four-part series will conclude October 26.

In this introduction to quilting we will build confidence in your sewing skills. This class is designed for adults who are beginner quilters.

Strengthen your sewing/quilting skills. In this 4-part program we will create a unique quilted wall hanging through hands-on exploration in a supportive learning environment. Each week we will learn a different aspect of quilting. All materials will be provided.

It is recommended that you come with basic machine sewing skills.

The Purcell Public Library will present “In My Experience: Day of the Dead” Thursday, November 2, from 4-6:30 p.m.

Deepen your connection with your community and expand your mindset on the Mexican celebration of Dia De Los Muertos. Learn with others in this interactive program where we will discuss Dia de Los Muertos traditions, watch Disney’s “Coco” and get crafty all while enjoying some pan de muerto (bread of the dead).

First 24 registrants will receive their own Sugar Skull coin bank which they can personalize.

This program is for all ages.

McClain County Operation Christmas is now accepting applications.

The deadline to submit applications is November 28.

Applications are available at The Purcell Register, the McClain County Health Department, the Purcell Public Library, the OSU Extension Office, senior citizen centers in Wayne, Purcell, Newcastle, Washington, Byars and Dibble or Delta Community Action Foundation in Purcell.

It’s getting close to Daylight Saving Time!

Daylight Saving Time is Sunday, November 5, so don’t forget to turn your clock back 1 hour before you go to bed Saturday night, November 4.

You don’t want to be an hour early for church!

This is always a good choice on a cool evening.

Ann’s Chili

1 lb. lean ground beef, browned

1 can Bush’s Best Chili Beans

1 can diced tomatoes

1 can Mexican tomatoes

Pkg. chili seasoning

1/4 cup brown sugar

Head Country barbecue sauce to taste

Combine all your ingredients in a slow cooker.

Cook for 2-3 hours.
