He also joined in the celebration of Suzanne’s retirement from teaching.

He enjoyed dinner at Jo’s Pizza upon his arrival with Jeff and Suzanne on Thursday. Saturday, Gary and his cousin dined at Cracker Barrel in Norman.

In addition, while in Purcell he enjoyed visiting with Suzanne and Jeff Wells’ children, Adam and Alison, their respective significant others, Kimmie and Jo Gibson, Connie Wells as well as with Honey,  Zoey, Duke, Tyga and Dixie Wells.

The weekend was spent relaxing and catching up with family and city activities.

Here’s a good recipe to serve for a family gathering.

Baked Bean Casserole from Trisha Yearwood

1 1/2 lb ground beef

1 small onion, chopped

1 bell pepper, cleaned and chopped

(2) 15-16 oz cans pork and beans

1/2 C barbecue sauce-I used Sweet Baby Ray’s

1/2 cup ketchup

2 Tbls spicy brown mustard

2 Tblsp Worcestershire sauce

1 Tbls soy sauce

4 Tbls brown sugar

6-8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Preheat oven to 350° and spray 9x13 pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Brown ground beef, onion and bell pepper. Add pork and beans and everything except bacon. Stir well and cook for 5 minutes.

Pour into prepared casserole dish. Top with bacon and cover dish with tin foil.

Bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes.

Let casserole stand for 10 minutes before serving.
