Mrs. Webster passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025.
Eulene was born on April 5, 1933, in Mountain Park, Oklahoma, the youngest of three children born to Lon Roberts and Grace (Stow) Roberts.
The Roberts family moved around quite a bit, due to Lon being a minister. As a result, Eulene attended six different schools before she eventually graduated from Washington High School in 1949. It was in that same year that Eulene caught the eye of a young man named Willis Mack Webster. As the story goes, Willis saw Eulene on the basketball court and decided to wait outside the locker room to ask her out on a date. After he asked her father’s permission, they eventually went on a double date, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Willis and Eulene were married on May 14, 1952; they were the first couple to be married at Union Hill Baptist Church west of Purcell. Together, Eulene and Willis raised their two beautiful children, Terry and Jeanne. Eulene took Colossians 3:22-24 to heart and was dedicated to working hard every single day. She carried an unmatched work ethic, and it truly showed in every part of her life.
While she was still in school, she worked at Haxel Drug Store in Washington and at B.E. Massey Drug in Norman. She then worked at a couple of grocery stores, including Sam Ewing’s and Curt’s IGA in Purcell, before she began her career in banking. Eulene worked her way up to Assistant Vice President of Mortgage Lending at First American Bank in Purcell, before she eventually served as Vice President of Mortgage Lending for First National Bank and McClain County National Bank. However, Eulene would often say that her last and most enjoyable job was working at The Purcell Register as a proofreader!
When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed volunteering at the First Baptist Church clothes closet and at Church in the Park for the homeless in Norman. In retirement, she and Willis joined the Union Baptist Association Mission Builders, where they were able to travel to help remodel and build churches across the country. Additionally, Eulene loved decorating for every season, and she took great pride in making the holidays special for her family. She was an avid sports fan and never missed an opportunity to cheer on the OU Sooners or her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their various sporting events.
Eulene was resilient, loving, compassionate, hardworking, genuine, committed and faithful. She was a people-person and simply enjoyed being around people and getting to know them. She was a family woman, through and through! Nothing made her happier than the day she became “Nana”. She cherished spending time and making memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
But above all, Eulene was a woman of great faith. She looked forward to every Sunday when she could teach Sunday School, play the piano or organ, or sing worship to her Lord. Her love for Jesus was evident in everything she did, and present in every encounter she had with others. Eulene Webster truly was a one-of-a-kind woman who will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Willis Webster; her parents, Lon and Grace Roberts; brothers, J.C. Roberts and Lavelle Roberts; three infant grandchildren; one infant great-grandchild and 1 grandson-in-law, Curtis Vandevort.
Eulene is survived by her son, Terry Webster and wife, Wakita, of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter, Jeanne Simmons and husband, Randy, of Goldsby; 4 grandchildren, Heather Simmons and spouse, Megan, Derek Webster, Jarrod Simmons and wife, Sarah, and Kellyn Vandevort; nine great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Andrew, Eleanor, Rebekah, Jude, Amelia, John, Lily and Samuel; brother in-law and sister-in-law, Howell and Elaine Webster; her brother’s children who she loved as her own, Jay, Mike, Lonnie, Greg, Ruth, Janet, Peggy, Denise and numerous nieces and nephews by marriage; her great friend, chosen sister, and eyes for the last few years, Ms. Julie; her special friends at the clothes closet, and a host of other family and friends.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to their angels in the flesh - Melissa, Cortney and the staff of Suncrest Hospice - for the genuine love and care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Union Hill Baptist Church, Attn: Webster Memorial Fund, 20441 Bryant Ave. Purcell, OK 73080.
