Warriors searching for cage coach

After 7 years, TJ Scholz stepping away from coaching

Posted

With the sudden and surprising resignation by TJ Scholz, Washington is in search of a high school men’s basketball coach.
Coach Scholz’s statement from Twitter after a meeting with the team today:
“The last seven years have been the best years of my coaching career. I am proud of what our coaches and teams have been able to accomplish. I am even more proud of the relationships we were able to create. I have been blessed to coach such great kids and players throughout my career here.
The birth of our second child has had me thinking of what I want at this point in my life. Having the opportunity to spend more time with my family has been weighing on my heart.
With all this being said, I will be taking a break from coaching hoops at this time. I want to thank the administration and school board for their support over the last seven years. I want to thank the coaches that I have had the pleasure to work with. And most of all, I want to thank the players that I have been able to coach here. You guys deserve all the credit for the success this program has gotten. You guys will always hold a special place in my heart.#FAMILY”
As of his announcement Wednesday, Athletic/Operations Director Andy Newby said, “The head boys basketball coaching position is open and candidates will be interviewed as soon as possible.”
Washington Schools appreciates coach Scholz for his dedication to the basketball program for the last seven years,” Newby said.
